President Bola Tinubu appointed Nyesom Wike as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory because of his attitude towards work and his responsibilities, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said.
Akpabio while speaking at the book launch to mark the 57th birthday celebration of Wike in Port Harcourt described the minister as a workaholic.
He also noted that Wike is known by all as someone who gives his best at any office he finds himself.
Addressing Wike at the event, Akpabio said, “Let me tell you why you were nominated into the FEC by President Tinubu despite being an opposition politician.
“Your performance, as a local government chairman, Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Government, Minister and two-term governor gave you the job,” the Senate President said.
He also said that Wike despite being a member of the opposition party has made the present administration of President Tinibu proud.
He added, “You have turned Abuja into a model city befitting the capital of a country. You are a very committed public officer who has no room for excuses on any given task.
“In less than two years, you have turned Abuja into a huge construction site,” Akpabio said.
