Arc (Mrs) Margaret Adesuwa Ehilebo, convener of the group, said in a statement: “The ongoing saga surrounding Senator Natasha, the representative of Kogi Central, and the allegations of sexual harassment against Senator Godswill Akpabio, is a deeply troubling development that threatens to derail the legislative agenda and activities of the 10th Senate.
“It is imperative that we, as a civil society group, express our concern over how these allegations are not only affecting the individuals involved but also the broader functioning of our legislative body.
“This situation has resulted in a distraction that takes focus away from the pressing issues that affect ordinary Nigerians. We call upon both parties to seek an amicable resolution to their differences, allowing the Senate to return to its primary purpose: to create and pass laws that improve the lives of all Nigerians.
“The legislative process should not be overshadowed by personal disputes, and it is important that both Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Senator Godswill Akpabio prioritize the collective welfare of the Nigerian people above all else.
“The absence of proof may lead to perceptions of mere blackmail, a dangerous narrative that could undermine the credibility of women in politics and hinder their chances of obtaining elective positions.
“It is important for the integrity of the Senate and the trust of the public that these matters are resolved transparently and justly.”
