The Forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) Chapter Chairmen in the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State has called on the party leadership and stakeholders to consider former Member of the House of Representatives, Ekperikpe Ekpo, for a ministerial appointment in the soon-to-be-constituted federal cabinet.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that in a communiqué signed by Akaniyene Ukpanah, Israel Tommy, and 29 others after an extraordinary meeting of the party in Uyo on Friday, the APC Chapter Chairmen noted that Ekpo’s character, loyalty, and contributions to the party over the years have not been in doubt.
The forum described Ekpo, who is also the National Coordinator of the Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF), as a suitable candidate for ministerial appointment, expressing confidence in his wealth of experience and ability to deliver if given the opportunity.
The communiqué reads in part: “We want to use this medium to call on the political merchandise, who go round the streets of Abuja to castigate and fabricate lies against our leader, Chief Godswill Akpabio, to refrain from such act, else, the wrath of the party as embedded in the constitution will not spare such characters who perpetuate such act. The party will not condone the pulling down of our leader.”
The communiqué also condemned recent attempts by some stakeholders of the party in the state to fabricate lies against the senator-elect for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Chief Godswill Akpabio.
The APC Chapter Chairmen advised the stakeholders to work together with Akpabio to move the party forward, noting that the dividends of democracy would emanate through party recommendations.
Meanwhile, the forum passed a vote of confidence on the State Chairman of the Party, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, expressing satisfaction with his performance since assuming office.
The APC Chapter Chairmen commended Ntukekpo for his tireless and sincere efforts towards the success of the party before, during, and after the general elections.
