The Federal Government has denied media reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has been coughing after testing negative to Coronavirus.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, made the known during a press briefing on COVID-19 on Thursday.
According to Mohammed, the President is physically fit, strong and fully in charge of the country.
He said: “Mr. President is well and fully in charge of the country.
”Some have alleged that the President is coughing, it is fake news.”
Mohammed also revealed that he tested negative for the virus after he sent his blood samples for testing on Wednesday.
The minister also revealed that all members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 have all taken the test.
“Yes I did my test yesterday, early this morning I got the result and it was negative, that’s why I’m here. Every member of the Presidential Task Force also took their test yesterday”- HMIC, Alh. Mohammed noted that two other ministers tested negative for the virus.
He said they are the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning and Clement Agba, Minister of State, Budget and National Planning.
The minister added that the government is still on the trail of 4,370 people believed to have contracted the deadly virus.
Mohammed, however, expressed regrets that most of the returnees from abroad submitted wrong addresses.
He said: “We have 4,370 people of interest whom we are tracing. We urge those who have had contact with suspected cases to immediately report to the authorities. We urge Nigerians to support the authorities in this regard.
“We are on the verge of reaching the level of community spread. We must stop this immediately or we will record exponential cases in the days ahead. There is no better way to say this.”
He added: “Let me say, without mincing words, that we are not getting the kind of cooperation that this moment deserves from Nigerians. Many are busy engaging in meaningless criticisms instead of complying with the stipulated directives to keep people safe.
”Some Nigerians who flew into the country from overseas filled wrong addresses and phone
numbers in their forms, making it difficult to trace them when the need arises.
“Some Nigerians defied orders to stay away from large gatherings while some religious leaders willfully flouted the directives to ensure social distancing.
“The government is doing its best but we need the citizens to do their best too. We have now gone past the stage of persuasion. It’s time for strong enforcement.”
If these returnees submitted fake addresses is to their detriment & that of members of their families. They must be idiots!
As for the president, it would be his business if he conceals that he is truly seek and the government and his aides are covering up. Corona virus is not a respecter of persons or titles. It would surely manifest!
