The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has spoken out about the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that she urged that all efforts should be made to prevent the situation from escalating, stating that the problems in Sudan have already led to a significant humanitarian crisis, with women and children being particularly affected.
Speaking at the 10th General Assembly of the Africa First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) held in Abuja on Monday, Buhari stressed the importance of engaging with all relevant bodies to develop effective strategies to address the crisis.
She also emphasised the need for concerted action to address the issue of women’s peace and security in Africa, given the challenges of banditry, insurgency, internal strife, and coup d’états.
Mrs Buhari called for more significant support for women and young girls, highlighting the importance of constructive engagement and peacebuilding to help empower them as solutions to the conflict rather than seeing them only as victims.
