Alleged N28m Fraud: Go to court if you’re innocent – Fayose tells Falana

The Immediate governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has asked Femi Falana (SAN) to go to court to clear his name of the allegations that he received N28 million from Ibrahim Magu.

This newspaper recalls that Falana had denied reports that he collected the money from the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The Presidential Investigation Committee investigating the Federal Government Recovered Assets and Finances from May 2015, to May 2020, had claimed that N28 million payment was traced to one Falana.

But in a statement signed by his lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), Falana denied collecting the said money and demanded a retraction of the claim. The senior lawyer said the report was “damning against his entire career as a lawyer.

Reacting to the threats made by Falana in a tweet on Wednesday, Fayose asked the human rights lawyer to court and clear his name if he is innocent and has nothing to hide.

Fayose wrote”: “If there is nothing to hide, why is Femi Falana threatening instead of simply going to court?

“Isn’t this alleged link to Magu another opportunity for him to go to court and clear his name?

“Methinks his likes should stop carrying on as if they are saints and untouchables.”
