A clarion call has once again been directed at the collegiate leadership of the Igbo, to among other things, reclaim original place of the Igbo in Nigeria and secure the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Mazi Enyinna Amadikwa, a UK based Political Strategist, stated this, weekend, in Owerri during an interaction with newsmen.
“Our leaders have failed the Igbo nation. There seem to be no place again for the Igbo in Nigeria. It seems to me that there is a plot to annihilate the Igbo for no reason. It is regrettable that the federal government has refused to address the issues of marginalisation, abandonment and economic strangulation of the Igbo. This is one of the things that is fuelling insecurity.
“Ohaneze social cultural organisation which has taken it upon herself to champion Igbo political destiny in Nigeria should begin to do a good work for the people to gain trust, credibility and acceptance among other ethnic nationalities in the country.
While dismissing the claim of better numerical strength by the North, he said, “the claims of numerical strength by some Northern group is a mere facade and media propaganda emerging from spurious data.”
He argued that Igbo has the population spread and human resources capacity to make a difference if allied and led well by elites with capacity, informed strategy, focus, political will and worthy Individuals recognised by the people.
“I am of the opinion, and I stand to be corrected that some known Igbo intelligentsia and leadership opportunists have betrayed Igbo collective self esteem, making ndi-Igbo to live under fear, suffering from marginalisation and political defeatist syndrome which can be cured with enlightenment of facts and figures”.
Amadikwa, a former Director General of the Imo State Bureau of Statistics said, “numbers do not lie”, adding that, “Nigerians can compare available statistics and measurement variables of past PDP governments and President Buhari led federal government since 2015 till date and tell themselves the obvious truth.”
On the vexed issue of the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Amadikwa tasked Southeast political leaders, religious, traditional rulers and the diaspora to come out from their hiding and demand without ambiguity, immediate and unconditional release of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
He frowned at what he described as, “desperation by the government of the day to control, rule and colonise the Igbo without their free will and consent.
“The least we can ask and must demand is to allow the South East and the entire Igbo to have breathe of fresh air in Nigeria, a sovereign and constitutionally guaranteed restructued Nigeria.
He also called on Igbos across Nigeria to register and collect their PVCs and be ready to effect the change they desire in 2023 at the polls .
MY DEAR AUTHOR, WHILE I AGREE AND WILL DO IF THE STATUS QUO PERSISTS THAT IGBOS IN SUCCESSIVE ADMINISTRATIONS IN NIGERIA SINCE 1980 UNDER REPRESENTED US(THE IGBOS), IT IS TRUELY UNTRUE THAT THERE IS AN ATTEMPT BY THE YORUBAS,HAUSAS,FULANIS,IJAWS, IBIBIOS,TIVS, NUPES N THE REST OF NIGERIAN PEOPLE TO CONTROL EVERYTHING, LEAVING THE IGBO OUT:SPACE WON’T ALLOW ME TO ENUMERATE HOW MANY TIMES WE MISSED THE OPPORTUNITY OF PRODUCING EITHER THE PRESIDENT OR VICE SINCE THE AFOREMENTIONED DATE. SIR, I PUT IT TO U AND EVERY OTHER IGBO, THAT OUR PROBLEM WAS, IS N WILL REMAIN ‘ PLAYING SECTIONAL POLITICS’. THE EAST, WEST OR NORTH CANNOT AT ANY TIME IN NIGERIA DO WITHOUT THE OTHER TWO, THIS IS D REASON THE LATE ZIK, IN 1979 WOOED THE IMMEDIATE MIDDLE BELT (NOW BENUE, PLATEAU , NASARAWA,KOGI N KWARA) TO THE N.P.P., THIS ARRANGEMENT GAVE THE PARTY THE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE THE GAINS IT MADE IN THE GENERAL ELECTIONS OF THAT YEAR JUST AS HIS N.C.N.C. DID WITH N.P.C. IN THE FIRST REPUBLIC.
UNTIL WE STOP OUR ‘ NOT WORKING’ TYPE OF POLITICS IN THIS NIGERIAN PROJECT, WE MIGHT REMAIN ONLOOKERS FOR A LONGER PERIOD.
what stops us from joining a party formed n led by a northern politician, be strong card carrying members, elect members of the national assembly on its platform n eventually produce principal officers of the assembly and then make a strong case about picking its presidential ticket, being one of the pillars of same, or do we think it is impossible?
OUR NEXT PROBLEM IS, THE, ‘WHAT CONCERN ME WITH THE GOVERNMENT’ SYNDROME,: AT EVERY VOTERS REGISTRATION EXERCISE, OUR REGION OR ENCLAVES RECORD THE LOWEST TURN OUT, TO MAKE MATERS WORSE, FAR LESS THAN 50% OF THE REGISTERED WOULD CALL IT VITAL ISSUE, COMING OUT TO VOTE ON ELECTION DAY,( THE JUST CONCLUDED ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION), IS D MOST RECENT SCENARIO. HOW THEN DO WE WIN ELECTIONS?
DO U KNOW THAT IF WELL GALVANISED, THE IGBOS MAKE UP ON THE AVERAGE, BETWEEN 10 AND 25% OF THE VOTERS NUMERICAL STRENGTH OF ALL THE 36 STATES AND THE F.C.T.?
IFE NA- EME ANYI KA SI ANYI N’AKA.
i stand to be corrected though.
