Amid Brewing Crisis, Mojisola Meranda Occupies Lagos Speaker’s Office [PHOTOS]

Despite the brewing crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda on Monday, January 27, occupied the seat of the Speaker of the House.

Recall that Meranda had been elected following the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa while he was away in the United States of America.

Obasa was impeached following an agreement by 32 out of the 40 lawmakers of the Lagos Assembly.

However, upon his return, the former Obasa said he remains the Speaker of the House as he described his impeachment as unconditional.

While many Nigerians, especially Lagos residents had expected the former Speaker to attempt assuming officer after his press briefing over the week, the clerk of the House security had been beefed up ahead of the new week.

According to the clerk, all staff and legislative aides of the Lagos House of Assembly were advised to ensure they present their identity cards at the point of entry to enable them gain access into the Assembly Complex.

The clerk also said that any staff of aide without proper identification would not be allowed to access the complex.
