Alhaji Mahmud Abdullahi, a media aide and close confidant of former military president, retired General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has allayed fears over the erstwhile Nigerian leader’s health.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that IBB travelled to Germany last week, and is not expected to return to Nigeria anytime soon.
There are reports old age is affecting the octogenarian and his health has worsened, but Abdullahi has quashed the anxiety. According to him, there is no cause for alarm.
“I did not discuss with Oga (referring to Babangida) before he left Nigeria where he had travelled to and why.
“I know he is due for a medical checkup because recently he has not gone for it. Therefore I believe that he travelled to Germany on Saturday for the medical check-up,” Abdullahi told NAN.
Babandiga served as military president of Nigeria from 1985 until his resignation in 1993.
He is best remembered for annulling the June 12, 1993 presidential election which produced late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola as winner.
