Anambra 2021: INEC reacts to alleged mass resignation of staff over IPOB

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra State, Nwachukwu Orji on Tuesday dismissed reports that some ad hoc workers of the agency have declined to work.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that there were rumours that the drivers and majority of the ad hoc workers already recruited said they were no longer interested in the job for fear of their lives due to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)-linked attacks.

But Orji has now quashed that rumour, stating that there was no truth in the publication.

“INEC is still in the process of recruiting the adhoc workers, in fact we just finished the last training before this false report,” he told NAN.

“As the head of the commission in Anambra, I am telling you authoritatively that we have more than enough manpower for the conduct of the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra,” he said.

Anambra 2021 Governorship election is slated for November 6.
