A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has asserted that the Igbo people of Nigeria “will continue to be onlookers” in the country’s politics.
Igbokwe was seemingly reacting to the imminent defeat of his party, the APC, in the Anambra election 2021.
He accused Ibo people of still practicing “ethnic politics”.
“I had thought that Igbo will move beyond ethnic politics and work to connect to the center to meet other Nigerian, but ife ji Ndigbo jisi ha ike. We will continue to be onlookers,” Igbokwe wrote on his known Facebook page late on Sunday.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Anambra governorship election has been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The state Returning Officer for the election, Florence Obi, the vice-chancellor of University of Calabar, who made the declaration in the early hours of Monday, around 12:20 a.m., said this was because there was no election in Ihiala Local Government Area which has over 148,000 registered voters.
INEC could not deploy voting materials to Ihiala during Saturday’s election due to security threat, she said.
Charles Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), scored a total of 103,946 votes and won the election in 18 out of the 21 local government areas of the state.
His closest rival, Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 51,322 and won in only one local government area.
The comments of a bitter looser.
Igbokwe go to hel wit your ethnic politics
We Igbo don’t want APC
I KNO YOU WILL LATER REGRET TALKING AGAINST NDI IGBO
Ihe ji gI bu Igbo awusa chere ka Oha gi tupu I Mara ihe ina eme.
Iberiberism.
Just imagine the kind of loose mouth Anambra produces.. that why ABIA STATE will never accept being from the same Ethnic with you…
Joe Igbokwe is a traitor.
Hmmmmm, God of Igbos is not asleep, and will always fight and defend his own children. I have to congratulate the Anambarians for standing and to defending what they believe in, and what they wants. They have made a bold statement that no one can impose anyone on them against their wish and choice.
If any body think that what happened in Imo state, mighty repeat it self again in Igbo land, that person may have to wake-up from his or her deep slumber and face the reality of life. Igbo land was a peaceful place, until the agent of applied conflict project (apc) imposed an imposter on them to destabilize the Igbo land. Today the results is there for everyone to see. Anambra people have made their choice and I think it should be respected by all, whether it favoured you or not. That’s what democracy is all about. It is a game of number.
Hmmmm! God of Igbos is not asleep, and will always fight and defend his own children. Firstly, I have to congratulate the Anambarians for standing and defending what they wants and what they believe in. The bitter truth is that the anambra people have made a bold statement that nobody, no matter how highly he or she mighty be can impose anyone on them against their will and wish. Which I think should be respected. The more bitter truth is that if anyone think that what happened in Imo state will be repeated in any south eastern state again, that person might have to wake up from his or her deep slumber to face the reality of life. Igbo land was a peaceful place, until the agent of applied conflict program (apc) imposed an imposter on them against their will and wish to distabliz the entire region, and the rest is there for everyone to see today. The anambra people, I repeate, have made their choice and should be respected by all, whether It flavours you or not, the interest of the people comes first and not individual. Democracy is all is a game of number, the party with the highest number of votes, is to be declared a winner. In Imo, when a person who came fourth was declared a winner by Court, no roof was raised. So?
