Anambra Election: Why PDP candidate, Ozigbo should step down – Adeyanju

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader, Deji Adeyanju on Thursday asked Valentine Ozigbo, the party’s candidate in Saturday’s Anambra State governorship election, to ‘step down for the Young Progressives Party (YPP) or All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)’.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah is the flagbearer of the YPP while Chukwuma Soludo is contesting via APGA.

According to Adeyanju, Ozigbo “is not in the race”.

“The PDP candidate in Anambra election should step down for YPP or APGA. The guy is not in the race. He should not waste money and the time of INEC,” Adeyanju wrote on his known Twitter handle.

Meanwhile, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has appealed to aggrieved people in Anambra election to sheath their swords and embrace peace in the interest of the state in particular and the nation in general.

Dr Leonard Nzenwa, National Chairman IPAC and National Chairman, African Action Congress (AAC) at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday said the call became imperative because it was better to jaw-jaw than to war-war.

“Dialogue is vital in resolving individual and group differences and chart the way forward.

“It is obvious that democracy can only flourish in a peaceful environment. It is our only hope of building a strong, united, stable, prosperous, equitable and just society.

“A threat to democratic process is a threat to our nationhood. It is unacceptable and must be resisted by all patriots,” he said.
