Youths in Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, have vandalized billboards erected to welcome President Bola Tinubu to the state for the launch of the Yobe Agricultural Empowerment Programme.
The incident occurred on Saturday, shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Tinubu at the launch of the programme.
During the event, the president’s representative stressed the importance of agriculture in national development and security.
The representative said that “food is the heart of security in every society.”
However, the angry youths, in a viral video, were seen destroying one of the billboards, which had photos of President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and Governor Mai Buni. The billboard had a message that read, “Thank you, Mr. President. Have a safe trip.”
The vandalism comes amid growing tensions across the country, with faceless Nigerian youths planning a 10-day nationwide hunger and hardship protest.
