APC Chair, Adamu to vacate seat at Senate

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has started preparation to vacate his seat in the Nigerian Senate.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Adamu (APC, Nasarawa West) emerged as APC Chairman during the party’s March 26 convention in Abuja. But it has been observed that the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart has not been attending plenary in the National Assembly.

As of Thursday, the lawmaker had started moving his personal belongings out of the office. The office was near empty, except for a few items like furniture and office equipments. There were also a few staff members there.

Meanwhile, Adamu, on Thursday, met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Fielding questions from journalists on the next route for the APC’s primaries, Adamu said his party would deploy any of the three strategies—direct primaries, indirect primaries and consensus—to elect its next presidential candidate.

“When we get there, we’ll talk, alright? But the options are there; direct primaries, indirect and consensus. The party has a choice which of these paths to take,” he said.
