Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State of blackmailing President Bola Tinubu.
Kwankwaso accused the former governor of resorting to desperation in a bid to oust the president from power in 2027.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Kwankwaso advised El-Rufai to quit his antics as President Tinubu cannot be ousted like they did with Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
He said, “You cannot oust President Bola Tinubu from the presidency in 2027 by engaging in the same method you did to former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, using poverty, insecurity and economic devastation. Your blackmail is clear to all.
“It is clear to Nigerians that President Tinubu has achieved a lot by changing the narrative with many places becoming secured and prices of commodities becoming more and more affordable.
“The insecurity met on the ground by President Tinubu when he came in is gradually being controlled, thanks to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the security advisor to the president. But people like El-Rufai are clearly not happy with these achievements,” Kwankwaso said.
However, reacting to El-Rufai’s claim that the present administration is sponsoring babditary, Kwankwaso said El-Rufai is focused on instigating the North against President Tinubu.
He said, “I wonder how a coalition with the likes of El-Rufai, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso and the likes can succeed. It is already a failure. Who amongst them has performed as good as Tinubu when he had the chance?
“Is it Atiku that has failed as a vice president or El-Rufai who is facing charges from the Kaduna State Government or Kwankwaso who failed as a Minister of Defence and currently has no political party to rest on? ” Kwankwaso queried.
