APC: Court sacks Ganduje’s faction, sides with Shekarau’s instead

The Congresses of the Kano State All Progressive Congress (APC) conducted by Governor Abdullah Ganduje-led faction have been officially canceled by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

This was conveyed by Justice Hamza Muazu, On Tuesday which actually enforced the congresses led by Former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau and Lawmaker, Sha’aban Sharadaas.

The judge ruled that the faction led by Shekarau held their congresses signed by the APC committee which consisted of 7 people. Therefore, only congresses held by the faction is considered legitimate since it has committed elections and brought results.

Judge Muazu clarified that the congress which returned 17,908 members was legitimate. He also prevented the Ganduje faction to appoint a new executive.

Meanwhile, APC said that the decision only affected ward congresses, not local or state government executives of the party. This was conveyed by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, who explained that the party structure in the state was still recognized by The National Headquarters of the party.

On the same occasion, he also said that the party has appealed related to the assessment given by The Federal High Court as well as stay on the matter.

“The party has filed for an appeal of the Federal High Court judgment and a stay of action on the matter. Members should remain calm and carry on their responsibilities as dictated by the constitution of the party,” Garba said.
