APC Crisis: Nabena tackles Lanre Issa-Onilu for issuing statements in party’s name

The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Yekini Nabena, on Friday, attacked the National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Isa-Onilu, for issuing statements on behalf of the party.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Mr Nabena had earlier announced himself as the party’s acting National Publicity Secretary after a Sokoto State High Court restrained the APC from appointing or electing Lanre Isa-Onilu or any member into office except through a National Convention as enshrined in the party’s constitution.

The interim injunction followed an application filed by the APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Inuwa Abdulkadir. Nevertheless, Mr Nabena questioned the legitimacy of Mr Issa-Onilu after the latter’s aide, Edegbe Odemwingie shared the statement on a mutual closed WhatsApp group, APC Press.

He challenged the legitimacy of Mr Issa-Onilu saying; “Edegbe stop making state for lanre remember that there’s a court order.”

“For now Lanre is not the NPS of APC until he vacated the order. Let Lanre go to court like the National Chairman did. Edegbe please stay away for your good. This is a breach of court order, do not release,” He wrote on the platform.

However, when POLITICS NIGERIA contacted Mr Issa-Onilu on Friday evening, he declined comments on the issue.

It should be noted that the ruling party, in recent times, have been through different crises. It started with the clash between the national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and some stakeholders.

Mr Oshiomhole was suspended and reinstated following the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari.
