APC is the most organized party to bring development to Nigeria – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari says the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership has steadily showed that the party is the most organised, well-structured and fully motivated platform for bringing development to the country.

Buhari said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja while felicitating Governor Mai Mala Buni, Chairman, APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) on his 54th birthday.

The statement was issued by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Buhari.

Buhari particularly noted the role played by Buni, who is also the Governor of Yobe State in ‘successfully repositioning’ APC.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the APC Congress is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with its main rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It was founded on 6 February 2013.

The APC is generally considered to be a centre-left political party that favours controlled market economic policies, and a strong and active role for government regulation. A substantial number of its political leaders are followers of or politicians who subscribe to the social democratic political philosophy of late Obafemi Awolowo and the socialist and anti-class views of Aminu Kano. Moreover, the majority of the APC’s base of political support is in southwestern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria, which are dominated by the Yoruba and the Hausa-Fulani respectively.
