APC Reacts to Outcome of Rivers LG Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed its performance in Saturday’s Rivers State Local Government elections.

The party’s reaction was contained in a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

It secured victory in 20 out of the 23 local government chairmanship seats contested across the state.

“The victory is yet another unmistakable indication of the strong confidence of the people in the APC-led administration to continue delivering transformative and people-oriented governance,” the statement read.

The party also commended its leaders, members, and supporters for what it described as their “assiduous work” in ensuring the success of the polls.

It further praised the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and security agencies for conducting what it called a peaceful and transparent exercise.

Morka urged the newly elected chairmen to redouble their efforts in delivering meaningful governance outcomes for the people of Rivers State.

The APC, however, dismissed allegations of electoral irregularities raised by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing his comments as “incendiary” and “highly irresponsible.”

“Atiku’s tirade is no more than a smokescreen meant to distract the public from another miserable no-show record of his African Democratic Congress (ADC),” the statement said, accusing him of attempting to stoke tension over the exercise.
