United States Associate Professor and social critic, Farooq Kperogi on Friday mocked Nasir El-Rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State and a top member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), for his recent statement where he urged people of his state not to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.
“Some people said that what we have done now cannot be reversed, wrong. A bad governor, a PDP governor can reverse this in six months.
“Don’t make the mistake of voting PDP back into office in 2023. If you do, things will go back to what they used to be. While we go through our process as APC and bring out a candidate and I endorse that candidate, please trust me that that person will be the better governor of Kaduna from 2023 and beyond,” El Rufai had said.
According to Kperogi, with this statement, El-Rufai is covertly campaigning for the PDP. The former journalist claimed that Kaduna residents would rather have the PDP back in power, than retain the APC at both state and federal level in 2023.
“It looks to me like Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai is stealthily campaigning for the PDP, the party that brought him from obscurity to national limelight.
“He reportedly said on November 24, “Don’t make the mistake of voting PDP back into office in 2023. If you do, things will go back to what they used to be.”
“Most Nigerians, including those who were severely critical of the PDP in 2015, are now so disillusioned with the dreadful ineptitude of the APC that all they want at this point is for “things [to] go back to what they used to be,” Kperogi wrote on his verified Facebook page.
