Appeal Court sacks Labour Party’s lawmaker in Lagos House of Assembly, declares APC candidate winner

The Court of Appeal has overturned the victory of Olukayode Doherty from the Labour Party in the Lagos State House of Assembly election for the Amuwo-Odofin II Constituency.

The court declared Rauf Age-Suleiman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner.

This ruling invalidates Doherty’s previously declared position as a member-elect, replacing him with Age-Suleiman from the APC.

The court’s decision brings a substantial change to the representation of this constituency.

Before the verdict, the Labour Party had two lawmakers in the Lagos state House of Assembly. With this verdict, the party has just one lawmaker in the state’s parliament.
