Atiku camp speaks on annulment of Tinubu’s victory

The presidential spokesman to the 2023 Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation, Daniel Bwala, has asked those who say presidential election in Nigeria has never been annulled by the courts, to “get your popcorn and bottle of drinks, sit back and watch”.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Atiku, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday filed a petition to challenge the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the presidential election that was held on February 25.

Atiku, in the petition, marked: CA/PEPC/05/2023, which he lodged before the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, sitting at the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, applied for the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return that was issued to Tinubu by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He maintained that the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election was “invalid by reason of non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022”.

Bwala is optimistic that Tinubu’s victory will be overruled.

“The petition is in. Let the legal fireworks begin. Those who say, presidential election in Nigeria has never been annulled by the courts, therefore it will not; my request for you is to get your popcorn and bottle of drinks, sit back and watch. The world is watching,” he wrote on his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday night with an accompanying picture of the petition.
