Media aide to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Paul Ibe, has said that his principal is not withdrawing from the 2023 presidential race.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that a Twitter user, Cousin Ray, had claimed that a source close to the former vice-president said he was becoming increasingly frustrated by the alleged lack of traction in his campaign and the crisis rocking the party.
But reacting to that claim, Ibe blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for spreading lies about his principal.
“We may need to investigate what those people are smoking, what substance they are taking.
“I can assure you that whatever issues we have in the PDP will be resolved because they are getting attention. Meanwhile, the roads have started the campaigns,” Punch quotes Ibe as saying.
Atiku, 75, is one of the frontline candidates in respect of the 2023 election. He is contesting for the presidency for the fifth time.
