Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has reacted to the verdict of the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal.
The tribunal, on Wednesday, upheld the election and declaration of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The court threw out cases brought before it by Atiku Abubakar (PDP) and Peter Obi (Labour Party) against Tinubu (APC).
Addressing journalists after the judgement on Wednesday night, Shettima threw a jibe at Atiku who has been nursing a presidential ambition for decades.
“We are not going to retire Atiku Abubakar to Dubai or Morocco. I will retire him to Kombina, I will buy him goats and broilers and layers so that he can spend his days rearing goats and broilers,” Shettima said.
The Vice President, however, said the Tinubu administration would tap into Atiku’s wealth of experience in its bid to set Nigeria on a path of growth and development.
Shettima further acknowledged the sociocultural interaction between his tribe, Kanuri, and Atiku’s— Fulani.
“Politics is a game of nerves not of emotions,” Shettima declared.
He noted that the Tinubu administration would now focus on governance.
