The camp of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded presidential election, has raised concerns over Bola Tinubu’s prolonged stay in Europe, purportedly for a “working visit.”
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that having recently returned from a three-country tour encompassing London, Saudi Arabia, and Paris, Tinubu departed Nigeria on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
The Office of the President-elect asserted that the trip aims to refine transition plans, discuss policy options with key aides, and attract investments by engaging with foreign investors and important allies.
However, Atiku’s campaign spokesman, Daniel Bwala, had refuted the claims made by Tinubu’s camp, stating that the President-elect’s trip was primarily for medical purposes rather than an official working visit as asserted by his media team.
Recently, Bwala has expressed his impatience, noting the absence of any photos documenting the official visit or Tinubu’s engagement with foreign investors, questioning the delay of over a week.
Taking to his Twitter page on Tuesday, Bwala wrote:
“I have been eagerly waiting for photos of the official visit and the engagement with foreign investors. It has been over a week now. Has the camera suddenly malfunctioned? Lies are becoming a norm in politics.”
It is worth mentioning that both the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, alongside Peter Obi of the Labour Party, have rejected the declaration of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, as the winner of the 2023 presidential polls.
