FEC mourns Ex-Health Minister, Gabriel Aduku

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has expressed deep sorrow following the demise of Chief Gabriel Aduku, the former Minister of State for Health, who passed away at the age of 80.

Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), conveyed the council’s condolences on Tuesday through a statement released by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information in his office.

Chief Aduku served as Minister of State for Health during the administration of the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, leaving a lasting impact on the health sector through his pivotal role in policy formulation and implementation.

In the words of Sen. Akume, Chief Aduku was a figure with a “midas touch,” notably recognized for his leadership as the Chairman of the Revenue Allocation Committee of the National Constitutional Conference. His influence led to the adoption of the 13 per cent derivation formula, which became enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.

The SGF praised Chief Aduku’s multifaceted contributions, highlighting his achievements in combating quackery within the architectural profession during his tenure as President of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria.

Sen. Akume extended heartfelt sympathies to the Government and people of Kogi State, as well as to Chief Aduku’s immediate family. He offered prayers for the repose of the departed soul, seeking solace and eternal rest from the divine.
