2023: Why Peter Obi left PDP for Labour Party – Keyamo

The spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Festus Keyamo (SAN), has said Peter Obi, the presidential flag-bearer of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May “out of personal frustration when he was muzzled out”.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Keyamo, also the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, said Obi and the Labour Party are only disguising themselves as ‘new breeds’.

“For the records, Peter Obi did not leave PDP out of principles; he left out of personal frustration when he was muzzled out.

“That is why he has been likened to a mentally challenged person who is just moved to a new facility and promptly declared to be fit without rehabilitation. That is an insult to millions of Nigerians,” Keyamo told Daily Independent.

Obi was the governor of Anambra State between 2006 and 2014 under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

In October 2014, seven months after handing over to Wille Obiano, he defected to the PDP.
The former governor was a presidential aspirant of the PDP this year.

He announced his resignation from the PDP, a few days before the party’s presidential primary, saying there were practices in the party that were inconsistent with his “belief and persona”.

He defected to the Labour Party where he later emerged as the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.

  1. And where has been Keyamo all these years, staying in one place? Places and people do have history, nothing remains the same be it in Russia, the US or in Nigeria or anywhere in the world. Donald Trump was in the Democratic Party, today he is in the Republican Party and he claims to be a conservative at that; so what?. Our nation (Nigeria) is being hijacked by criminals ( drug dealers, money launderers etc and cabals ))represented by people like Keyamo et al and we should stay in line? No way, some how we must seek our passage as being postulated and represented by Peter Obi from whatever party he comes.

  2. Obi is old contender as other politicians, not a new breed. He’s part of Nigeria problem. He cannot be Nigeria president this time around. He has to wait for his time. He cannot win the coming election, mark my word

  3. Obi cannot be trusted. Nigeria will break if he become president. Ipob are warming up for Biafra, he can’t control them. He has nothing to offer Nigeria. He will not win this election.
