Nine members of the Askarawa vigilante group have been killed in an ambush by some bandits operating in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Zagazola Makama, a conflict analyst said the bandits launched an attack on some joint security operatives who were returning from a successful operation on Saturday, March 22.
Makama said the joint security operatives had earlier achieved great success after engaging some criminals in a gun battle
He, however, stated that, while returning from the successful operations, the vigilantes were ambushed by another group of bandits in the area.
Reacting to the incident, residents of the community have condoled with the families of the late operatives.
He said they also commended that bravery and committment to protecting the lives and property of the people of Anka.
