Bauchi: Bala Lifts Embargo on Employment

The Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, Monday lifted the embargo on employment.

The governor lifted the embargo employment to ensure that the MDAs are appropriately and adequately staffed.

He said this will provide employment opportunities for qualified youth to ultimately recalibrate the state’s civil service for efficient service delivery and sustainable growth.

The governor announced this in his address shortly after he was sworn in for a second term in office held at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

He said human capital remains the bedrock of his administration’s effort at creating a new narrative in governance.

He stated further that consolidating on his ambitious developmental agenda demands higher levels of initiatives, commitment and personal sacrifice.

He assured that government will expose a critical mass of civil servants to targeted human capital development programmes in line with global best practices.

In the areas of salaries, pensions and gratuities, the governor stated that since the inception of his administration, it has been paying monthly salaries and pensions without default and promised to ensure that labour has integrity with the welfare of civil servants as top priority.

“On concerns over gratuities, I wish to reassure the workers that the we shall fast-track ongoing effort to create the required synergy between the PENCOM and the recently established Bauchi State Contributory Pension Scheme to defray the backlog and guarantee regular payment of gratuities.”
