Bianca carpets ”certain Igbo leaders” for using Ojukwu’s name to advance their political interests

Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Biafra warlord, Ikemba Dim Odimegwu Ojukwu, has expressed disappointment in certain Igbo leaders who, after leveraging her husband’s name for personal gains, distanced themselves from the masses and subsequently criticized Ojukwu.

During the 2023 Ojukwu Memorial Day held in Imo State, Bianca thanked the masses for consistently honouring Ojukwu’s memory.

However, she criticized Igbo leaders who allegedly used Ojukwu’s legacy to achieve success but later abandoned their responsibilities and began attacking him.

She highlighted the disconnect between these leaders and the people, expressing regret that those who had initially associated themselves with Ojukwu’s name had now distanced themselves from the masses.

Bianca Ojukwu also expressed gratitude to former President Goodluck Jonathan for his support during Ojukwu’s health struggles and after his passing. She acknowledged Jonathan’s efforts in ensuring Ojukwu received adequate care during his illness and a befitting state burial.

Her words:

“The so-called Igbo leaders who have disconnected themselves from the masses after achieving success with the name of Ojukwu. They now castigate Ojukwu after transcending. They are on the run now because their sins have come to hunt them.

“The statistics of the Igbo leaders who have run away from their responsibilities in Igboland after achieving their aims are now frightening.”

The occasion’s chairman, Chief Owelle Onyeka Mbaso, and other speakers emphasized the need for Igbo unity, peace, and love, urging the community not to forsake Ojukwu’s legacy but instead uphold the values he stood for.
