It was a bloody Good Friday in Rivers State as some yet-to-identified gunmen on Friday stormed a police checkpoint in Marine Base area of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (LGA) and killed a police officer.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the incident has created fear in the area.
Meanwhile, the motive of the attackers is not yet clear.
Responding to the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Effiong Okon has ordered his men to immediately track down the criminals.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the command, Grace Iringe-Koko, Okon has deployed tactical teams and other intelligent units with a view to arresting the perpetrators of the crime and bringing them to justice.
