The Turkish government is set to deliver the first batch of T-129 ATAK helicopters to Nigeria, indicating its preparedness to assist in the fight against criminality in Nigeria.
The T129 ATAK is a twin-engine, tandem-seat, multi-purpose, all-weather attack helicopter.
AIT reports that the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Hidayet Bayraktar, announced this at the 100th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Turkey, held in Abuja.
According to him, Turkey will continue to build on its existing partnership with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, adding to the challenges of terrorism.
The Nigerian government last year procured six T129 helicopters produced by the Turkish Aerospace Industry for counter-terrorism operations in the country.
The aircraft is among the platforms expected to be delivered to the Nigerian Air Force before the end of the first quarter of 2023.
