BREAKING: 12 burnt to death in Kwara accident

At least 12 people died on Saturday in a fatal accident that occured on Ilorin/Ogbomosho road in Kwara State, North-Central region of Nigeria.

POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that the driver of an 18-seater bus heading to Lagos State had a head-on collision with a DAF Volvo trailer.

Six passengers however survived the accident, with varying degree of injuries.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State, Jonathan Owoade, confirmed the sad development.

Last month, a pregnant woman and eight others were burnt to death in a multiple auto crash in the same Ilorin.

The accident, which occurred along the Ilorin International Airport road involved a commercial passenger bus and a private vehicle.

A report published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in January revealed that the North-Central region recorded the highest cases of road crashes in the first quarter of 2021 at 905, followed by the South-West region at 877.

In terms of casualties in the quarter, the North-West had the most at 3,143, followed by the North-Central region.
