[BREAKING] 2023: Amosun formally declares to contest for president [PHOTOS]

Former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, on Thursday formally declared to contest for president of Nigeria under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

Amosun made his formal declaration at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Central Business District (CBD), Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The 64-year-old served as Senator between 2003 and 2007 and as a two-term Governor of Ogun State between 2011 and 2019.

He was also elected a second time to the Senate in 2019 where he currently serve the people of Ogun Central Senatorial District.

Amosun joins the likes of Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation; Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment; Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; and Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta, to formally declare to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

The APC special presidential convention is scheduled to hold from Monday, May 30, to Wednesday, June 1.
