As the 2023 election draws near, a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept and publish the name of Godswill Akpabio, as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Justice Emeka Nwite in his verdict held that INEC acted unlawfully by refusing to accept and publish Akpabio’s name even when it was sent to it by the APC as its candidate.
This newspaper reports that the APC has maintained that Akpabio, a presidential aspirant in respect of the 2023 election, was the known senatorial candidate to the party for Akwa Ibom North-West.
Last week, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Barrister Felix Morka, told the press: “The party is the party and the party has conducted its primaries and submitted the list of its candidates to INEC.
“In the case of Akwa Ibom North West, Godswill Akpabio, and in the case of Yobe North, we have Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.”
There has been controversy regarding the nomination emanating from Akwa Ibom North West senatorial district in respect of Akpabio.
Udom Ekpoudom won the primary election for Akwa Ibom North West, which was monitored by INEC officials. INEC, thereafter, rejected the substitution of Ekpoudom’s name with Akpabio by the APC.
Rubbish inec it’s high time you stand on the ground, our judiciary is trash, useless people. INEC work for good
