All things being equal, Joshua Dariye, a former Governor of Plateau State, will run for Senatorial seat in 2023 on the platform of the Labour Party.
POLITICS NIGERIA learnt that Dariye has been offered senatorial ticket by the Labour Party in Plateau State.
Dariye, who was granted a state pardon about two months ago, breathed the air of freedom three days ago. He had been incarcerated for fraud.
This newspaper learned that the Plateau State chapter of the Labour Party has concluded arrangements to receive the former Plateau governor from Abuja to pick the party’s senatorial form.
A Labour Party official who preferred anonymity told the press: “Yes, it is true that he (Dariye) will be running for a Senate seat. We are making arrangements for him to come from Abuja for the senatorial declaration.”
With this development, Dariye, who represented Plateau Central at the upper chamber of the National Assembly under the same LP between 2011 and 2015 before defecting to All Progressives Congress (APC), will do battle with Diket Plang of the APC and Golkuna Gotom of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
