[BREAKING] 2023: Powerful Nigerian politician dumps APC

As the 2023 general elections approaches, the immediate past Commissioner for Planning and Budget in Kano State, Nura Dankadai, has left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

In a letter addressed to his ward Chairman, sighted by this news medium, the politician said his decision was predicted on “unfair treatment”, “lack of internal democracy”, and the “marginalization” of his constituency.

Recall that Dankadai had last month handed over the affairs of his ministry to the next in command despite Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s rejection of his resignation letter.

This follows Governor Ganduje’s directive that all political appointees wishing to contest in the 2023 general elections should resign on or before April 18 – in line with the Electoral Act, 2022.

Dankadai had indicated interest to contest a seat in the House of Representatives for the Tudun-Wada Federal Constituency. It is not yet clear which party he is joining.
