Another video of Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat maestro, Fela Kuti, is trending online. In the new video, the singer boasted of slapping policemen.
Politics Nigeria reports that it is unclear when the recording was made.
In the video, he said in pidgin:
“Some of una police go slap una, una go come Instagram to explain. You know how many police I don tear slap?” he asked.
“They say because you be Fela pikin. You no know say na because Jesus be God pikin e fit die for you? You must know who you are before you make your move. So, I make my move because I know who I am.”
Meanwhile, following the assault on the police officer, the younger Kuti sought the legal services of Femi Falana. In return, the human rights lawyer agreed to defend him over the incident.
In a related development, Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye of P-Square has apologised to the Nigeria Police on behalf of his colleague in the music industry.
Okoye also appealed to the police to temper justice with mercy over Kuti’s action, whose video has gone viral.
Speaking on the incident, Okoye condemned the action as he pleaded with the security agency to handle the case with utmost mercy.
