APC Chairman in Nassarawa arrested for alleged rape

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested the All Progressive Congress (APC) ward chairman in Obi Local Government Area of the state, Mr Christopher Ogah.

POLITICS NIGERIA understands that Ogha was quizzed for allegedly defiling two girls, aged 12 and 13, in his house in the Obi area of the state.

According to a witness, Mr Oyikobi Ambassador, the APC chieftain raped the minors when they entered his house to fetch water in the well.

It was also learned Ogah has been luring underage girls every time they come to fetch water in his compound, saying that it was not his first time of committing the crime.

He was saved from being lynched by angry youths by the Executive Chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Mohammad Oyimoga Oyigye, who handed him over to the Police.

Reacting to the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bola Longe, said he has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCID) in Lafia for a discreet investigation.

He said: ”I have directed that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department, (SCID) in Lafia for a discreet investigation after which the suspect will be charged to court.

“The Police under my watch want to warn would-be Rapist to have a rethink or face the wrath of the Law.

”I am assuring the public of the Police command’s commitment to arrest and prosecute anyone found wanting no matter how highly placed.”
