JUST IN: Nigerian Army removes commander over Adamawa police headquarters invasion

In response to the recent midnight invasion of the Adamawa Police Headquarters, the Nigerian Army has taken decisive action by indefinitely removing Brig-Gen. Mohammed Gambo, the Commander of the 23 Armour Brigade in Yola.

The move follows the tragic loss of lives, including army personnel and a police inspector, during the invasion.

According to reports, Brig-Gen. Gambo had previously led a mobilization of heavily armed soldiers, with 12 trucks reportedly involved in the invasion of the Adamawa Police Command Headquarters.

His removal from command sees Brig-Gen. Paul Zawaya taking over the leadership position, hailing from Michika Local Council in Adamawa.

During a meeting at the Yola Government House, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri welcomed Brig-Gen. Zawaya expressed his enthusiasm for the new commander’s appointment.

Fintiri emphasized the urgency of combating crime in the state, specifically targeting kidnapping and other criminal activities.

Concerned over the invasion, Governor Fintiri stressed the need for enhanced collaboration among security agencies to tackle criminal elements in Adamawa.

He reassured the new commander of his unwavering support in ensuring the state becomes crime-free for the welfare of all residents.

In response, Brig-Gen. Zawaya pledged to prioritize and uphold security across Adamawa, vowing to work tirelessly to safeguard the state and its people.
