The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is taking steps to address the crisis that has emerged over the leadership consensus zoning arrangement for the 10th National Assembly.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that as part of these efforts, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the preferred Senate President, and his deputy, Senator Jibrin Barau, are currently in a meeting with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The meeting is taking place at Muhammadu Buhari House and is being presided over by the National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu. Over 40 senators, including Akpabio and Barau, arrived for the meeting in two Coaster buses at around 12:55 pm.
Recall that last Monday, the NWC announced the consensus zoning arrangements for the 10th National Assembly after consulting with President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other stakeholders.
However, some lawmakers in both chambers of the National Assembly have expressed their dissatisfaction with the arrangements as they have their sights set on leadership positions in the legislative arm.
In response to this, the NWC met with the aggrieved aspirants from both chambers last week and promised to revisit the zoning arrangements. The NWC also advised the aspirants to hold off on taking any further actions.
Further details on this developing story will be provided as they become available.
