BREAKING: Appeal Court fixes November 19 for judgement on Plateau governorship election

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has scheduled Sunday, November 19, 2023, for the judgment on the appeal filed by Dr Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Plateau State, contesting the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

The announcement of the judgment date was conveyed in a notice issued by one of the court’s bailiffs, Dalhatu Mansur, on Saturday.

The notice outlined the case details: Appeal No. CA/J/EP/PL/GOV/52/2023, involving Dr Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe of the APC, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Governor Mutfwang Caleb Manasseh of the PDP.

It informed the concerned parties of the fixed date for the judgment, slated to be delivered at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, starting at noon.

Following the March 2023 governorship election in Plateau State, Mr Nentawe of the APC was declared the runner-up, while Governor Mutfwang emerged as the winner according to the declaration made by INEC.

However, dissatisfied with the outcome, Nentawe challenged the declaration and return of Governor Mutfwang, filing a petition before the election tribunal.

The tribunal dismissed his petition, leading to this subsequent appeal at the Court of Appeal.
