Former Nigerian Senator, Chief Arthur Nzeribe is Dead.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that Nzeribe, a political strongman from Imo state was declared dead at a foreign hospital following an undisclosed ailment.
“He died this morning in a hospital abroad. The family will soon release a statement,” the source said.
The late Nzeribe represented Orlu in the Senate in 1999 but in November 2002, the then-Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim suspended him indefinitely over an allegation of N22 million fraud.
Reacting to his death, Kadun Senator, Shehu Sani wrote; “Chief Arthur Nzeribe;young people may not know who he was;by the time they came of age, he had retreated to a private life.”
“He was an unforgettable factor in our nation’s history.A controversial maverick & a man you shouldn’t bring close nor keep him afar.”
“May his soul rest in peace.”
