The Asaba Palace has dismissed rumours circulating on Thursday claiming the passing of His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Chike Edozien, the Asagba of Asaba.
Concerns arose earlier today regarding the health of the 99-year-old monarch, who is set to celebrate his 100th birthday in July.
“His Royal Majesty is only hospitalized,” Ogbueshi Ndili, the Palace Secretary, confirmed in a phone call. “If the worse comes to the worse, we will make it open.”
When contacted, Bridget Anyafulu, the member representing Oshimili South Constituency in the State House of Assembly, said, “I don’t know anything about that.”
