The United States Mission in Nigeria has raised a fresh security alert, urging American citizens to avoid all non-essential visits to government and military facilities in the Federal Capital Territory.
The advisory, released Monday, did not cite any specific threat but comes amid growing global security concerns and escalating geopolitical tensions in multiple regions.
“The U.S. Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and recommends that American citizens avoid non-essential visits to government buildings and military sites in Abuja until further notice,” the Mission said in its official statement.
The alert calls on U.S. nationals residing or travelling in Nigeria to remain vigilant, update their travel plans, and stay informed through local news and official Nigerian government channels.
In line with similar warnings from other Western governments, the advisory said there is a heightened need for situational awareness.
The U.S. Mission also reminded its citizens of existing travel protocols and encouraged registration with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to ensure they receive the latest security updates and emergency support.
