Suspected bandits have raided the home of a former Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the bandits, who came in seven SUVs, forced their way into Jibrin’s residence at Brains & Hammers Estate, Apo 3, Abuja, and ransacked his bedroom.
They also took away some documents, but Jibrin said they did not find the N5 billion and ammunition they were looking for.
This latest development comes on the heels of a similar attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s residence in Adamawa state.
According to the former senator, the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, claimed they were in search of N5 billion and ammunition.
During the raid, the attackers ordered Walid’s houseboy, Awwalu, to lead them to his bedroom, where they ransacked the area and made off with important documents. Notably, this was the second time the bandits had targeted Senator Jubrin’s residence.
Addressing the press, Senator Walid Jubrin disclosed, “They tied my houseboy, Awwalu, and told him that they came to take away N5 billion hidden by me and also to take away some so-called ammunition kept by me but unfortunately found nothing at all.”
“Even though I was not at home when they came in the afternoon, they forced my houseboy, Awwalu to the bedroom but alas found nothing.
“They took my houseboy away and later dropped him somewhere after informing him that they took the exercise because they were looking for such a big amount as N5bn and some ammunition kept by me but found nothing at all.
“The bandits came with about seven Sport Utility Vehicles, eight persons with sophisticated ammunition. I have since reported the matter to the Inspector General of Police who directed the Commissioner of Police, FCT, to handle the matter. The CP is still in investigation.”
He added, “I want to announce that I have never kept such an amount of money or any ammunition in my house. It is important also for the whole world to note that I do not own any personal house in FCT Abuja. I also never have any personal house in my Local Government Council headquarters in Nasarawa LGA or any house in my Nasarawa State capital, Lafia.
“The current house attached in the Brains and Hermas Estate is a fully rented house that will expire in three months’ time. I want to assure all that I still remain a man of honour and integrity who never worked with the Federal Government.
“I will always remain a company executive in the Nigerian 175 Textiles and now a National Life Patron of the industry and also a strategic member of the National Council of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.
“It is also important to state that I am a true Nigerian politician who served up to the position of the chairman, PDP Board of Trustees until recently when I voluntarily resigned from that prestigious position,” Walid stated.
