Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, made this known in a statement made available to reporters on Tuesday in Bauchi, the state capital.
The governor earlier said he came in contact with Mohammed, the son of former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.
On Sunday evening, Atiku announced that his son has been tested positive for the coronavirus infection.
Ladan Salihu, the Chief of staff to the governor, had said Mohammed had gone into Isolation after he shook hands with Atiku’s son.
He noted that they were on the same flight from Lagos to Abuja and that the Governor alongside his team members, has taken tests. The results of the tests yet to be released.
“Our Governor Bala Mohammed in self-isolation following contact with Atiku Abubakar’s Son.”
“Yes. We were on the same flight from Lagos to Abuja. They shook hands and exchanged pleasantries. The Gov and the rest of us have taken tests. The results will be negative in sha Allah, “Ladan Salihu posted on his Twitter account.
