APC Presidential Primaries: Abba Kyari speaks on consensus candidate

Abba Kyari, Vice Chairman, North, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that the possibility of the ruling party coming up with a consensus candidate before the primaries is still feasible.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Kyari said an agreement between the presidential hopefuls could therefore not be ruled out.

The party chieftain was speaking to newsmen on Monday ahead of the presidential primary election of the APC.

It would be recalled that the Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the APC, on Monday said Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, is the party’s consensus candidate. According to Adamu, he has briefed President Muhammadu Buhari. However, northern Governors rejected the plot, and 21 aspirants are now set to do battle today (Tuesday) and Wednesday.

No fewer than 2,340 delegates from the 774 Local Government Areas in the country and Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to vote at the APC presidential primary.
