General Alexander Madiebo, a former Chief of Staff of the defunct Biafran Army has died.
The exit of General Madiebo was confirmed in a terse statement on Friday released by his family, obtained by POLITICS NIGERIA. They expressed sadness over his loss.
It reads: “We are sad to announce the passing of General Alexander Madiebo, Chief of Staff of the Biafran Army and the last of the 3 titans. He was 90.”
This newspaper recalls that General Madiebo turned 90 last month.
The Awka-born Field Marshal fought alongside late Odumegwu Ojukwu to defend the old Eastern Part of Nigeria then in 1967 till 1970.
Madiebo was trained in the Finest British military academy at Sandhurst in England and was the most senior Artillery officer in the Nigerian Army at the outbreak of the civil war before he switched to be with his Eastern people. He is a product of Government College Umuahia, Abia State.
Condolence messages have been pouring in on social media since news of General Madiebo was announced today.
