Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have abducted Justice Haruna Mshelia, a High Court judge in Borno State, along with his wife, driver, and orderly.
The abduction occurred on Monday afternoon along the Damaturu-Kamiya-Buratai-Buni-Gari Road as Justice Mshelia was returning to Maiduguri.
According to sources, armed men emerged from the bush and barricaded the road, intercepting the judge’s vehicle. Despite attempts to escape, the car was stopped by another group of insurgents.
The abductees were then taken into the notorious Sambisa Forest, a stronghold of Boko Haram militants.
The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the incident.
ASP Nahum Daso, the state police spokesman, stated that they received a report about the abduction and are taking all necessary security measures to ensure the safe rescue of the kidnapped individuals.
This road is the only link between the southern part of Borno and other parts of the state and has been a frequent target for abductions.
Residents say the poor condition of the road, coupled with ongoing security challenges, makes it a hotspot for such incidents.
